Herb Pharm - the best tinctures! I love, love, love their Relaxing Sleep Drops and PMS Comfort Tonic...I always keep the Super Echinacea on hand in case someone gets a bug. Then I found out they get a lot of their seeds from Horizon Herbs, where I get a lot of ours. Herb Pharm has a great website and they also have a video showing how they make their products. Their website has a lot of good info about herbs for someone interested in trying some things but not sure where to start. They make a very high quality product. Check out their other site, too: www.herbaled.org for more resources and info.

I read something disturbing the other day. Spinach is now on the list of foods now approved to be irradiated. The list of irradiated foods is getting longer...some say the radiation levels are too low to harm us - guess who's saying that! Some say irradiated foods are "dead food" and if any bacteria survives the radiation, it'll be the meanest, hardiest strains of bacteria that live to reproduce; meanwhile the cellular damage to the food renders it nutritionally useless. I happened to see this site and it has a good bit of info about irradiated food, plus I just like her site!

The first GMO vegetable seeds...
Have a look at these 2 links I saw on a www.networks54.com forum called "the garden gate." The first one is a letter from a customer to Johnny's Seeds regarding their Monsanto seeds, and the response including a list of Monsanto owned seeds they carry; the 2nd link is an article about GMO seeds.  We use a lot of heirloom seeds, and we also use a lot of hybrids. Since we don't use chemical controls and heirlooms don't have the disease resistance that hybrids do, I feel like it's important to have a combination in case of severe disease outbreaks or severe weather. Truth be told, my heirlooms have done as well as the hybrids, and I love them more. It just helps me sleep at night knowing we've got the extra insurance of the hybrids.

What's in your soap?
A good website for reading about all the chemicals in commercial health & beauty products. Also raises an interesting question about sunscreens. Click on "beauty facts" and check out the links on toxic ingredients, the FDA and sunscreens:
